About this tool
Most compressors give you whatever size they feel like; real life gives you a number. A university portal says 150KB, a visa form says 200KB, an employer says 'under 500KB' — and a photo that misses the limit by a few kilobytes is rejected just the same. This general compressor works the other way round: you type the exact target size in KB, or drag the slider, and the tool adjusts quality and dimensions step by step until the image fits at or under your number with the best clarity that number allows.
It handles the three formats people actually meet. JPEG output is the right choice for photographs and strict form limits, because JPEG can be tuned very precisely. WebP output squeezes even smaller for websites and sharing. And 'keep original format' respects PNG files that must stay PNG, shrinking them by dimensions alone. The ready-made 20KB, 50KB and 100KB pages remain available for the common form limits; this page is the flexible one for every other number a portal invents.
Like everything on MTalhaTools, compression runs entirely in your browser. Your photo — a CNIC picture, a signature scan, a family image — is never uploaded to a server, never stored anywhere, and leaves no copy behind when you close the tab.
How to use it
- Drop your image onto the panel above, or click it to choose a JPG, PNG or WebP file.
- Type your target size in KB, or drag the slider — 100KB is set as a starting point.
- Choose the output format: JPEG for forms and photos, WebP for the smallest file, or keep the original format.
- Press 'Compress to target size', check the achieved size and preview, then download your finished image.
Where it is used
- Portals with unusual limits — 150KB, 200KB, 250KB, 300KB — that preset tools do not cover.
- Job and visa applications that state their own exact photo or signature size.
- Email and messaging, where you want a photo as light as possible without ruining it.
- Website owners trimming images to a strict page-weight budget.
Tips for a better result
Always type exactly the limit the form states, not a smaller number — the tool uses the whole budget to keep your photo clear, so aiming below the limit only costs quality for nothing. If the smallest reachable result still misses a very tight target, crop the photo tightly first (empty borders waste kilobytes) or reduce empty background in a signature scan. And if a portal also demands exact pixel dimensions, set those first with the Image Resizer, then compress here — size in pixels and size in KB are two different requirements and both must be met.
