About this tool
Studios charge for something you can largely do at home: a correctly sized passport photograph. This maker crops your photo to the two sizes used most in our region — 2 by 2 inches, used for Pakistani passport and many ID applications and for Indian passport photos, and 35 by 45 millimetres, the common visa and ID size — and gives you both a single digital photo for online forms and a 4 by 6 inch print sheet with multiple copies that any photo shop can print cheaply. One honest limitation: software on this page does not fake a studio background. Official photos are judged on the background, so take the original against a plain white or light wall, in even light, before you crop it here.
How to use it
- Take or choose a straight-on photo against a plain white or light background, with no shadows on your face.
- Select the size your application asks for — 2x2 inch or 35x45mm.
- Press the button. The tool centre-crops the photo to the correct ratio at print quality (300 DPI equivalent).
- Download the single photo for online forms, and the 4x6 print sheet if you need printed copies from a shop.
Where it is used
- Pakistani passport, CNIC and job application photographs at 2x2 inch.
- Indian passport and exam application photographs.
- Visa applications that specify a 35x45mm photograph.
- Students and job seekers who need urgent printed copies without a studio visit.
Tips for a better result
Keep your head and shoulders in the middle of the original photo and leave some space above your head — the crop is centred, so a face at the very edge cannot be recovered. Wear what you would wear to the office or studio, avoid heavy filters, and never use a selfie with a cluttered room behind you for an official application. If the digital file must also be under a KB limit for an online form, run the single photo through our 20KB or 50KB compressor as the last step.
