About this tool
PNG is the format to choose when a page must stay perfectly crisp: screenshots of documents, slides, diagrams, tables and pages with small print all survive in PNG without the fuzzy edges and blotches that JPG compression leaves around text. PDF to PNG renders every page of your document as a clean PNG image, with its own preview and download button, at the resolution you pick — from a light 1x for quick sharing up to 3x for printing or close zooming.
The rendering is done by Mozilla's pdf.js engine — the same technology Firefox uses to display PDFs — running entirely inside your browser. Your document is read from your device, converted on your device, and never uploaded to any server, which makes the tool safe for result cards, certificates, letters and other personal papers.
Choose PNG over JPG when quality matters more than file size: a PNG page is typically several times larger than the same page as JPG, because nothing is thrown away. If a form then asks for a small JPG under a KB limit, convert here first for a perfect master copy, then pass it through our compressor tools to reach the exact size the form demands.
How to use it
- Drop your PDF onto the panel above, or click it to choose the file.
- Pick a resolution — 2x suits most uses; choose 1x for smaller files or 3x when you will zoom in or print.
- Press 'Convert pages to PNG' and wait while each page is rendered on your device.
- Preview the pages and download the PNGs you need with the button above each image.
Where it is used
- Saving a certificate, result card or admit-card page as a crisp image for records or printing.
- Putting document pages into presentations, assignments and reports without blurry text.
- Sharing one exact page on WhatsApp or social media at full readability.
- Creating master copies of pages before compressing a JPG version for a strict form.
Tips for a better result
Higher resolution means larger files and longer rendering on a phone — a 3x render of a big book can strain a small device, so split very long PDFs first with our Split PDF tool and convert the pages you actually need. PNG files of text pages compress well afterwards with general zip tools if you must send many at once, but for a single form upload the usual path is PNG for quality, then our JPG compressors for the final size. And keep the original PDF: a PNG is a picture of a page, and the searchable text stays only in the PDF.
